Five promises to ponder

I thought I would share with you some of the promises and truths God has been freshly showing me this week. As I’ve been walking with Him, He has been continually reminding me of these five promises and as I stop to ponder them, I’m reminded of His deep, passionate, and never ending love that continues to give me strength and hope for whatever my day may look like. What an amazing God we serve!

Promise 1. God will never leave you or forsake you

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:8

We have no need to fear because the Lord promises He will NEVER leave or forsake us. So are you turning to your fears or to God? Are we willing to hear and then respond to what He says? Our failures do not come as a surprise to the Lord. He knew everything about our life before we even existed. The Lord has gone before us and He already knows the outcome, so we can place our trust in Him who is faithful and true, and we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? ” This promise can be taken with you throughout every day, because the Lord will remain with you and He is constant. “Remain in Me, as I remain in you…” John 15:4. This promise holds just as much value and worth as it did hundreds of years ago. Remember today that you have a loving, compassionate, merciful, and tender Lord who loves you unconditionally and we can rest in knowing that He will never leave us or forsake us.

Promise 2. God is fighting your battles

The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still. ” Exodus 14:14

The enemy we face here in this life is very real and will stop at nothing to cause us to be defeated. As believers is doesn’t take long to notice and experience the attacks and obstacles he’ll try to throw our way. And yet there’s hope that makes us stronger. The Lord is greater than what we are facing in life and we can rest in that He fights for us! Nothing stands in His way and whatever we are facing in life, if we let God be our peace and rest and trust Him, He promises He will fight our battles and will make a way even if we might not see a way. “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. ” John 16:33. Even when we are unaware, God is fighting for us, protecting and strengthening us on our behalf. We don’t ever have to worry when we feel alone cause we can be assured that He is covering us always and forever. If you’re feeling beaten or defeated remember that the Lord is our vindicator, you don’t have to fight beyond your control. If you only trust in Him and His power, He will go before and fight, leading you to victory!

Promise 3. God gives you wisdom

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given you. ” James 1:5

In the book of James, he tells us that the Lord loves to give us wisdom and if we are lacking in it, that we should ask God for it. The Lord promises to give wisdom to whoever simply asks for it. How do we decide between two paths? Where should we go? What is the better choice? If we are believing in God, trusting His promises, then we will ask Him for wisdom. Asking Him will prove that we do trust in Him. The fact He gives wisdom to us generously is an awesome promise. He promises to give us wisdom without finding fault in us. He doesn’t look at us and decide we aren’t worthy of the wisdom, but He is abundantly willing to give us wisdom if we only ask with confidence and trust. One of the amazing ways to receive wisdom is by the written Word of God, the Bible. “The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” Psalm 19:7, yet ultimately it is the Lord Himself who sources all wisdom.

Promise 4. God will give you a peace that passes all understanding

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

As believers if we are putting our trust and reliance in Christ whatever our circumstances might be, will be given His miraculous peace. The peace we experience when in relationship with God is a peace this world cannot understand. Those who don’t believe in Christ won’t be able to understand how someone can have peace amidst trials or suffering. The worlds peace is based off of the good things that happen in life, when things are going well for them, whatever makes them happy and if that is all taken away, their peace is quickly gone. “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.” John 14:27. God’s peace is a peace that passes all understanding. When we put our complete trust in God and believe He has all things under control, no matter the circumstances is when we experience true lasting peace. If we a resorting to fear over faith, then it’s impossible to have peace. God wants us to hand Him our fears and anxieties because He cares for us and wants us to live in peace. When we live a life of prayer and giving thanks to the Lord, whatever we may be facing, whatever the circumstance, if we are staying in close relationship and communication with Him, God promises to give us peace.

Promise 5. God won’t ever stop loving you

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.” 1 John 3:1

Love is not something God just chooses to give us, but it it the very nature of who He is. God is love! His love is not like the love of our customs today. The kind of love that is dependent on the conditions. The kind of love that says, “I’ll love you for something in return,” kind of thinking. God’s love never fails, always endures and is never changing and is not driven by self interest. God’s unconditional love doesn’t mean He loves everything we do. Just as a parent corrects and disciplines a child out of love for them and wants to see a change, so the same is with our relationship to God. Whenever we disobey the Lord will correct us out of His deep love for us. He loves us so much that He doesn’t want to see us stuck in the same place we are living. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3″16. God loved us so much that He sent His one and only Son to be crucified in our place so that one day we may live forever in heaven with Him! There is no greater love than this! God has given us the greatest gift displayed in the person of Jesus Christ, so that we can know Him and His love and have relationship with Him. We are His beloved children! What an honor it is to be so loved by our Father in Heaven which will last for eternity.

I find joy in every day, not because life is always good, but because God is.” – Unknown
